About
Small-batch wines grown and made by hand in the Ferguson Valley and Geographe wine region, Western Australia.
Our Story
We’re Tim and Rachel - a winemaker and a wine sampler.
After years living in Margaret River, we took a leap of faith and purchased our very own slice of paradise in the Ferguson Valley, drawn to the regions beautiful landscape and potential for growing exceptional wine grapes. We subsequently took on the lease of a neighbouring vineyard and began crafting wines that reflect the land, the season, and the hands that make them.
Fearon is our shared vision: honest, minimal-intervention wines grown and made in a place we now call home.
Our Wines
We work with vineyards across the Ferguson Valley and Geographe wine region - including the one we now farm - to produce wines that reflect where they’re grown.
There is something quite beautiful about how abstract elements like soil, sunshine, wind and the human touch can be entwined, encapsulated and expressed so profoundly in a glass of wine.
We handmake all our wines from grape to glass, and each bottle tells a story of soil, season, and time.
But also – we only make wine we ourselves would drink shared with friends and family – with soft cheese, lamb roast, or spicy fish tacos.
Why Ferguson Valley?
Ferguson Valley is one of Australia’s best-kept wine secrets - blessed with natural assets, including a Mediterranean climate, rolling hills, and rich soils.
The landscape is uniquely WA: Jarrah forests, granite outcrops, generous rainfall, and beautiful watercourses like the Ferguson and Preston rivers, which flow into the Leschenault inlet.
2025 Season
"After the extraordinarily hot, dry and compressed harvest of 2024, 2025 was a welcome return to a more balanced and rhythmic, classic southwest WA growing season. The winter of 2024 saw slightly above average temperatures, and above average rainfall that started later but persisted well into spring. Mild and settled conditions around budburst allowed balanced and even early shoot growth progressively hastened as temperatures warmed into October. Spring into early summer saw a perfect rhythm of clear sunny days interspersed with overcast and rainy conditions. Flowering occurred during generally settled weather, resulting in even berry set and good crop levels. A massive rain event towards the end of November saw over 100mm of rain fall in the Ferguson Valley district in less than 24 hours, stimulating strong secondary growth in vines that necessitated additional canopy management. Summer was generally warm with few temperature extremes. A mild heatwave preceded the onset of harvest in second week of February, with white varieties being harvested in quick succession. March saw milder temperatures and cool nights, and with the excellent residual soil moisture allowed perfect conditions for a long gradual ripening of red varieties. The last of the reds were harvested at the start of April. All in all, 2025 will go down as one of the finest vintages in Geographe’s viticultural history, with the wines destined to age gracefully for many years." - Tim and Rachel - Fearon Wines
2025 Blanc

Vintage: 2025
Region: Geographe
Sub-Region / Vineyard: Ferguson Valley
Variety / Blend: Sauvignon Blanc 70%, Chardonnay 30%
Alcohol: 12.5%
Our version of a “Classic Dry White” style of everyday easy-drinking white wine for all occasions. 70% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Chardonnay, all Ferguson Valley/Geographe grown fruit. About 50% fermented/aged in stainless steel, balance in seasoned french oak (barriques). All wild ferment, no MLF, unfined, lightly filtered prior to bottling.
Pairing
Equally at home with grilled seafood, a simple chicken salad, or fish tacos - or just cold, on a warm afternoon, with nowhere to be.
Tasting Notes
The white iteration of our regional label series, this crisp, bright and juicy white is unpretentious and packed full of flavour. Made with the same love and care as our single site series of wines, this wine is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (70%) and Chardonnay (30%), intentionally crafted to be enjoyed on any occasion, for any reason. Bright tropical and stone fruits greet the nose, with papaya, guava and nectarine supported by yellow grapefruit, lemongrass and hint of lanolin. Luscious and generous ripe citrus fruit flavours immediately fill out the palate, with a zesty squeezed lime acidity giving freshness and pulling the flavours through to the finish. Some subtle use of French oak and aging on lees gives a creamy texture, reminiscent of gingernut biscuit.
Vineyard
The intention of the regional label series is to craft wine reflecting a regional style, more so than a single site expression. As such, the fruit was sourced from several premier vineyards across the Geographe wine region, with the individual parcels being harvested and vinified separately.
Winemaking
Individual parcels of fruit were harvested and vinified separately. The fruit was pressed off, and the cloudy juice fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and seasoned French oak, using only wild yeast. Following fermentation, the wines were aged for a further 9 months on lees, with the oak components lees-stirred periodically to build texture and palate weight. No malolactic fermentation utilized. The individual components were then blended, and the finished wine bottled in November 2025, unfined and lightly filtered.

'Around 70% of the blend is sauvignon blanc, the remainder chardonnay. Half of the wine sees time in oak. A wonderful, easy-drinking wine with nougat and vanilla cream rolled into tropical fruit juice, peach, grapefruity freshness and some red apple crunch. At the pricepoint this over-delivers on interest, slippery texture, savoury undertones and general sense of understated complexity. A win, and then some.'

Variety / Blend: Mourvèdre 45%, Grenache 45%, Tempranillo 10%
Alcohol: 12.5%
Classic Provençal style, with the perfect colour up to Rachel's high standards. 60% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, all Ferguson Valley/Geographe Fruit. Tasting Notes
Classically Provençal in style, with red berries, currants, citrus blossom and Turkish delight on the nose, lifted by a whisper of crushed herbs. Bone-dry on the palate with a creamy lees texture and strawberry fruit sweetness, finishing long and thirst-slaking on zesty red grapefruit.
Pairing
Made for squid and chips on the beach, but also at home with a charcuterie spread, grilled prawns, or anything eaten outdoors in good company.
About
The rose iteration of our regional label series, in classic Provençal style this crisp, textural and moreish rose is made to be enjoyed in the sun with friends, preferably in proximity to water. Made with the same love and care as our single site series of wines, this wine is a blend of Mourvèdre (55%), Grenache (40%) and Tempranillo (5%), intentionally crafted to be enjoyed on any occasion, for any reason. The nose is redolent with red berries and currants, citrus blossom, Turkish delight and a hint of freshly crushed herbs. The palate is bone-dry but with a sensation of sweetness from the strawberry fruit and creamy lees-derived texture while the zesty fleshy red grapefruit acid line leads to a lingering, thirst-slaking finish begging to be paired with squid and chips on the beach.

Winemaking
Individual parcels of fruit were harvested and vinified separately. After a short period of skin contact, the fruit was pressed off, and the cloudy juice fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and seasoned French oak, using only wild yeast. Following fermentation, the wines were aged for a further 7 months on lees, being lees-stirred periodically to build texture and palate weight. No malolactic fermentation utilized. The individual components were then blended with a small proportion of red wine to enhance colour, and the finished wine bottled in October 2025, unfined and lightly filtered.

'The fruit is sourced from Green Door vineyard. It sits in a lighter frame of pink wine but packs in plenty of interest and flavour. The perfume is inviting, with red cherry, raspberry licorice, touches of game meat and woody spices. The palate is similar but with a core of briny minerality, a little dash of nougat and vanilla cream. Delicious, is the byword, and the complexity is laid out in richness of flavour and concentration. Some chalky edges to texture seal the deal. A serious take on the style.'

2025 Rouge

Vintage: 2025
Region: Geographe
Sub-Region / Vineyard: Ferguson Valley
Variety / Blend: Mourvèdre 35%, Grenache 30%, Tempranillo 25%, Chardonnay 10%
Alcohol: 13%
Our 2025 answer to our sold out 2024 Fearon Malbec, our most popular wine last year. A blend of grenache, tempranillo and mouvèdre, we think this is even BETTER than the Malbec!
Our version of a “Classic Dry Red” style of everyday easy-drinking red wine for all occasions. Can be served room temperature or slightly chilled. Roughly equal parts Grenache, Tempranillo and Mourvedre, picked and vinified separately at various stages of ripeness. All Ferguson Valley/Geographe fruit. Some whole bunch/carbonic components, mostly aged in large format old oak as well as some stainless steel for 7 months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Pairing
Versatile enough for any table - try it slightly chilled with a summer spread of antipasto and charcuterie, or alongside a slow-braised lamb shoulder by the fire in winter.
Tasting Notes
The red iteration of our regional label series, this is a red made for all seasons, equally at home served slightly chilled in summer, or by the fireplace in winter. Made with the same love and care as our single site series of wines, this wine is a blend of Mourvèdre (35%), Grenache (30%), Tempranillo (25%) and Chardonnay (10%), intentionally crafted to be enjoyed on any occasion, for any reason. The nose is bright and perfumed, with primary red and black berry fruit mingling airily with some gentle five-spice, aniseed and liquorice. Soft blackberry and sweeter raspberry fruit greet the palate, with a juicy pastille undercurrent. Super-fine tannins serve only to frame and provide support for the abundance of fruit flavours, whilst a pleasing amaro bitters savouriness builds towards the finish.
Vineyard
The intention of the regional label series is to craft wine reflecting a regional style, more so than a single site expression. As such, the fruit was sourced from several premier vineyards across the Geographe wine region, with the individual parcels being harvested and vinified separately.
Winemaking
Individual parcels of fruit were harvested at sequential stages of ripeness and vinified separately in small open fermenters. Some individual ferments incorporated varying degrees of whole cluster incorporation, with the balance being fermented as whole berries using wild yeast. After fermentation the wine was aged in a combination of stainless steel tank and seasoned oak for 7 months. The components were then blended with the addition of a quantity of Chardonnay to enhance colour and aromatics, then bottled in October 2025 unfined and unfiltered.

'A blend of equal parts grenache, tempranillo and mourvèdre. Styled as a dry red. Fun wine. Dark cherry, cola, faint mocha notes, some earthiness, touches of game meat and dried herbs. It seems more complex than expected but also drinks with immediate charm and gluggability. Disarming in that way. Fun and fresh with some extra things underway. At the price, ludicrously good and interesting.'

2025 Fiano

Vintage: 2025
Region: Geographe
Sub-Region / Vineyard: Harvey
Variety / Blend: Fiano 100%
Alcohol: 12.8%
Winemaking
Our first year working with this seductive Italian white variety, with the love affair only set to continue. Think Italian version of Chardonnay – rich, full bodied and textural but with more exotic floral and savoury characters. This Fiano was made in a 500L clay amphora, imparting a distinctive mineral character into the wine.
Tasting Notes
Fermented in clay amphora with some skin contact, this Fiano is aromatic and textural - citrus blossom and white peach on the nose, with characteristic beeswax and lanolin adding depth and intrigue. The palate is grippy and satisfying, with bright citrus fruit and a phenolic, mineral-driven finish.
100% Fiano from Harvey/Geographe. Destemmed, crushed, left on skins for 12 hours then pressed to 500L amphora for wild ferment. No MLF, left aging on lees in amphora for 9 months then bottled unfined/unfiltered.
Pairing
A natural match for dishes with some richness and weight - think grilled whole snapper, salt and pepper squid, or a simple pasta with mussels and good olive oil.

'The wine sees 12 hours' skin contact and then is pressed off to amphora for maturation. Wild fermented and bottled unfined and unfiltered. This has mettle and distinction. A textural feast in squeakiness and juicy feels. The fragrance is all about lime in mineral water, ginger and hazelnut. The palate delivers flavours of tonic water, ginger, green almond, nectarine and hazy green apple juice. It feels compelling, complex, layered and utterly delicious, with savouriness as a subtitle. A brilliant rendering of the variety.'

2025 Chardonnay

Vintage: 2025
Region: Geographe
Sub-Region / Vineyard: Ferguson Valley
Variety / Blend: Chardonnay 100%
Alcohol: 13%
Winemaking
Chardonnay is Tim’s favourite wine to make, from nurturing this temperamental variety in the vineyard to witnessing the alluring tastes and smells upon harvest and vinification. Made from fruit sourced from the Talisman vineyard, the most elevated and inland vineyard in the Ferguson Valley. A powerful citrus fruit core of grapefruit and lime zest with mouth-watering acidity is tempered by judicious use of French oak. An unashamedly WA and Gin gin clone expression of Chardonnay.
2024 Tempranillo

Vintage: 2024
Region: Geographe
Sub-Region / Vineyard: Harvey
Variety / Blend: Tempranillo 100%
Alcohol: 13.5%
Winemaking
This ubiquitous Spanish variety finds a natural home in the diverse landscape of the Geographe wine region. Made in a lighter style, darker red fruit flavours mingle with spicy/smoky characters, making you dream of jamon, manchego and green olives.
Pairing
Beef ribs cooked over fire, or an aged Manchego cheese.
Tasting Notes
Tempranillo is the hero red grape variety to the Geographe wine region, where the Spanish native has found a natural home. The regions sun-bathed warm climate guarantees full ripeness, and the vast diversity of soil-types, aspects and slopes gives rise to characterful expressions. This wine is reflective of the hot, dry and shorter growing season, being immediately bright, fresh and approachable in its youth. The nose is framed by blackberry and dark cherry, with more savoury characters of charcuterie, ironstone and coastal rosemary adding intrigue and complexity. The palate is more red fruited, with soft plum and cassis providing a supple fruit core, framed by sinewy rustic tannins that beg to paired with grilled red meat. A fresh acidity pulls the medium-full weighted palate through for a lingering finish.
Best paired with beef ribs cooked over fire, or an aged Manchego. Best enjoyed within 2-10 years.

'Stellar representation of tempranillo. It sits in the joven zone of freshness but has requisite seriousness, with dark fruits, toasty, woody spice, dark chocolate and sarsaparilla some of the calling cards. Swishy, silky texture, juicy to an extent, with a shimmy of silty tannin doing its thing. You could see this working with a chill, or making merry in big glasses as a fancy offering at a dinner party. It sits even, cool and astute at its medium weight, with hallmark characters on hand. Spot on.'

2024 Pinot Noir (Manjimup)

Vintage: 2024
Region: Manjimup
Sub-Region / Vineyard: Deanmill
Variety / Blend: Pinot Noir 100%
Alcohol: 14%
Winemaking
Another opportunity arose to work with some Pinot Noir from Manjimup, the region where arguably the best Pinot Noir is grown in Western Australia. Classic cherry and plum flavours are supported by some smoky/toasty oak. Full bodied with voluminous fruit and tannin.
Tasting Notes
A serious and composed Pinot Noir from the cool, elevated country around Deanmill - dark cherry and plum fruit at the core, with charry new oak adding structure and a smoky, cedar complexity. Fuller-bodied than the variety might suggest, with fine but present tannins and a long, savoury finish that rewards patience.
Pairing
Duck is the classic call - confit or roasted - but equally at home alongside a mushroom risotto, braised beef cheeks, or a good aged hard cheese.
2025 Mourvedre

Vintage: 2025
Region: Geographe
Sub-Region / Vineyard: Ferguson Valley
Variety / Blend: Mourvèdre 100%
Alcohol: 13.8%
Winemaking
The “M” in GSM wines, this variety (also known at Mataro) is rarely made as a standalone varietal wine. Tim loves the way the variety’s dark and brooding black berry and cherry fruit is contrasted against fragrant dried herbs and exotic spice, while the juicy fruit core and rustic tannins beg to be paired with a rack of lamb and winter vegetable cooked over fire.
2025 Grenache

Vintage: 2025
Region: Geographe
Sub-Region / Vineyard: Ferguson Valley
Variety / Blend: Grenache 100%
Alcohol: 13.5%
The variety closest to winemaker Tim's heart, and the reason he got into winemaking (growing up near McLaren Vale, and got into wine drinking McLaren Vale Grenache). More inspired by Priorat than Rhone, 100% Grenache from Ferguson Valley/Geographe. Two different clones, picked and vinified separately over sequential stages of ripeness. Final blend consisted of one-third semi-carbonic/whole bunch ferment, with the balance destemmed and fermented as uncrushed whole berries. Extended maceration, then aged in seasoned French oak for 10 months. Bottled unfined/unfiltered.
Tasting Notes
Deeply personal and intensely expressive, this Grenache draws more from Priorat than the Rhône - structured and serious, yet bursting with character. Expect concentrated dark cherry, dried raspberry and blood orange on the nose, layered with earth, iron, dried herbs and a suggestion of warm spice. The palate is generous and grippy, with plush fruit, savoury tannins built from extended maceration, and a long, mineral-edged finish from 10 months in seasoned French oak.
Pairing
Built for the table - roasted lamb with herbs, slow-braised pork shoulder, or a proper Spanish-inspired spread of jamón, manchego and good crusty bread.

'The fruit is sourced from Green Door vineyard. About 30% is fermented as whole bunches. This has a serious bent to it. Chiseled edges with a juicy core; all the dark cherry, cola, sarsaparilla, bay leaf, turned earth, sea spray and brined green olive characters. Beautiful perfume, restrained flavours, the savouriness all here. This is a very good wine, a serious contender in the national grenache stakes for top-flight recognition. It ticks so many boxes; a compelling red wine.'
