2023 ‘X02’ Mac Forbes Syrah (organic), Margaret River, WA

By any other is a family of wines made around the world with a commitment to reduce waste, reduce co2 emissions and improve the community we live in. Wines will be packaged using the most sustainable packaging available to each region and sold as locally as possible. This is not an end point but rather a journey to review and improve our impact while still delivering delicious wines connected to each region they are made.

By the end of 2024, it is anticipated there will be a BAO wine available in over 5 markets, all made and sold locally to each point of origin. Thus far 3 wines have been made in Australia (2 wines in Victoria made by Mac and a new chillable Margaret River Syrah only available in Western Australia made with good mate and WA legend Tim Shand. In early 2024, Raj Parr will release his first bao for sale only in California.

The 2023 ‘X02’ Syrah from Margaret River is largely whole cluster with whole berries and carbonic fermentation. Maturation in old oak with medium dark cherry and vibrant red edge. Nose has lifted, whole cluster perfume and a slight green edge from stalks. Palate is juicy but fresh with expressive violets, dark sappy cherries and length. Slightly chilled would be ideal for such a perfumed wine.
