JURASSIQUE 2020 BLANC

Lack of rain, poor flowering & general harsh conditions of the past few years have contributed to the lack of Chardonnay grown at Eastern Peake. This wine is from two vineyards - ours at Coghills Creek & the one at Tarrington. It was previously mentioned no 2020 would be produced, under very fortunate circumstances a wine has been produced.

I'm so pleased that this could be produced again, it's not fully oxidative such as other releases, it's the "Ouille" method. The thought of risking this wine in 2020 was a bit much, the wine does have undertones of the style though. whole bunch pressed, barrel fermented, full malo, no additions just minimal sulphur at racking & again at bottling.

PRESENCE 2021 GRENACHE ZERO SO2

Grown by one of the BEST viticulturists going around - Cory Hope. Located up in the Landsborough Valley Pyrenees on the Shays Flat site. Cory manages 50 hectares of vines over three sites in the valley which are all farmed certified organic, a huge undertaking. In my mind it's one of the best sets of vineyards in the Pyrenees if not in Victoria/Australia.A little side note when Latta was beginning I brought my 1st Sauvignon Blanc & Cabernet Sauvignon from Cory's parents vineyard in Moonambel (RIP Warren).This wine is a VERY LIGHT Red, it's all about sessionability, it's fresh, fun but with loads of detail & texture all from the vineyard site.Around 20-30% whole bunch, pressed after a week or so.. give or take a day or two, it's actually kind of hard to remember what happened with this wine... I remember Ray de Souza digging it out & basket pressing it when vintage was at its Peake inFull Noise! Enjoy, it's bloody delicious. no sulphur too.

QUALITY RELEASE 2020 GRENACHE ZERO SO2

2020 was a shocker all around, in the context of viticulture it is one of the smallest seasons to date in Victoria & beyond. I've always taken Sangiovese & Cabernet Sauvignon from the Shays Flat site when permitted. So when the Grenache became available it was a massive life line for our production! as well as the excitement to make Grenache from such a beautifully well farmed vineyard.Farmed by Cory Hope all Certified Organic. About 20% whole bunch, Zero Adds as always, basket pressed after a week & a bit, élevage for 12 months in 228L & 500L Casks, zero SO2. It's a pretty serious wine with loads of detail, a very fine expression of Shays Flat. Such a Quality Release.

HEADWATERS 2020 NEBBIOLO

Cameron & Robert John have been pioneering Nebbiolo at the Malakoff Vineyard for over 15 years, the vineyard is situated in the Landsborough Valley Pyrenees Victoria. Another ripper vintage for the Nebbiolo off this site, even though the yields were so low compared to other seasons & the season had its challenges Only one harvest date this year, just before the late rains came though. Fermentation was in open concrete wax lined very little whole bunch, basket pressed earlier than previous vintages. élevage for 12 months in 2 x 500L puncheons bottled in June 2021. It has been another patient waiting game, the wine looks so good to go. future releases will be able to go back to longer maceration & élevage (2021 is still on skins now in at the end of June) very excited to get this out!

BLAMPIED 2020 LAGREIN ZERO SO2

Grown by Greg & Marg May at Blampied just outside of Daylesford, it's an incredible property, 4th generation family farmers moving over to certified organics in 1989 (some of the 1st to do so in the region & Australia). A one hectare vineyard was established in 2005 at 535m ASL. This is the 1st release of Lagrein under Latta. Only one 600L Demi of this wine was produced, It's a small vineyard that always crops very well due to the fertility of the soils, ultra cool climate & the natural surrounding shelter of the vineyard.No Sulphur has been added, all destemmed, no whole bunches, basket pressed,12 months élevage. This is a rare release. a 2021 has been produced to follow the 2020.
