About
Jauma Wines are Natural Wines. Natural wine is organically grown, with zero additions or subtractions in the process of wine making. Jauma Wine is made from organically grown McLaren Vale fruit; varieties such as Grenache, Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Arneis are produced on Jauma Farm in Adelaide Hills. Since moving to the farm, plantings of Chenin, Savignin, Cabernet Franc, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Savignon Blanc have been added and will produce wine in the years to come.
James Erskine is a pioneer of Australian Natural wine with Jauma's first harvest in 2010. His journey has taken him and his wine around the world, with the wines being enjoyed in over 15 international markets. After a career in hospitality, becoming an award winning Australian sommelier and top wine show judge, James, together with his peers Tom Shobbrook and Anton Van Klopper, began asking some bigger questions of wine and its industry.
Natural wines arose as a reaction to the chemical industrialisation of farming and the normalisation of chemical additions in the making of wine. At the same time, natural wine questions: what is good wine and who defines this cultural paradigm?
Jauma produces wines from grapes. There are no additions of anything including sulfur, yeasts, acids, tannins, chemicals, preservatives, filtration, polymers, colours, fish/egg/plastic settling agents. With over a decade of dedication to the philosophy and production of Natural Wine, James continues to create pure and living wines, that are uninhibited in their portrayal of fruit, terroir and character. Jauma Wine is famous around the world for it's stability, brightness, integrity, purity, fun and fullness of flavour.
