Since 1968 the Lynn family of Coonawarra have mixed their traditional sheep grazing with vineyard plantings in the heart of the Coonawarra’s unique Terra Rossa soils. Initially planting to Shiraz in 1968, then Cabernet and extensive further plantings throughout the following decades, Majella provided fruit to some of Coonawarra’s great established names, such as Hardy’s and Wynn’s.
Majella survived the difficult growing periods and lean years and has emerged as one of Coonawarra’s leading lights. The vineyards now cover 150 hectares and Shiraz and Cabernet dominate. Since 1991 Majella has produced wine under their eponymous label and are constantly rewarded with glowing reviews and praise for their regionally expressive wines.
