Babo is the realisation of a vision shared by three Australian ‘ragazzi’ (lads) with a passion for all things Italian but in particular its food and wine culture and its diverse regional wine styles. This symbiotic relationship between wine and food was the inspiration.
Fully fledged food and wine ‘mafiosi’, brothers Paul and Luke Saturno of Sicilian and Friulian heritage have teamed up with Justin Bubb (an honorary Italian having spent the last six years making wine in Italy) to produce wines of exceptional varietal and regional expression.
The philosophy was simple, utilise the best fruit possible to produce wines of elegance and purity with a focus on vibrancy of fruit, texture and balanced complexity. All the wines are made at small boutique winemaking facility in Empoli under the guidance of Justin Bubb.
